At the Rohingya Human Rights Center (RHRC), we believe that advocacy is more than a campaign—it is a commitment to justice, a channel for truth, and a platform for those whose voices have been silenced by violence, discrimination, and exile. Since our founding, we have engaged deeply with the international community to elevate the voices of Rohingya victim-survivors and persecuted communities. Our goal is clear: to ensure that the human rights of the Rohingya people are recognized, respected, and restored.

We work tirelessly to raise the voices of those who have endured unspeakable suffering—survivors of genocide, mass displacement, statelessness, and decades-long persecution. These are not just numbers in a report or subjects in a news headline. They are individuals with stories that demand to be heard. They are children who were denied education, women who lost everything to violence, men who watched their communities burn, and elders who still dream of returning to their homeland in peace.

Our advocacy is grounded in direct engagement with international stakeholders—including the United Nations, human rights mechanisms, international courts, governments, humanitarian agencies, and civil society organizations. We hold formal and informal dialogues with these actors to ensure that Rohingya issues remain high on the global agenda, especially as international attention shifts elsewhere.

We have taken Rohingya voices into UN Human Rights Council meetings, side events during the General Assembly, and humanitarian response planning sessions. We also engage in direct communication with special rapporteurs, fact-finding missions, and other UN mandates dedicated to Myanmar, genocide prevention, and minority rights. Our contributions help shape reports, influence resolutions, and inform the recommendations issued to state and non-state actors.

Beyond the UN system, we collaborate with a broad network of international NGOs, legal teams, academic institutions, and grassroots movements. We provide them with field-based data, testimonies, analysis, and strategic insight. We have co-organized panels, contributed to international campaigns, and co-authored submissions for legal proceedings and policy briefs. Through these alliances, we amplify the demands of the Rohingya community: for justice, for accountability, and for a future free from fear.

Our approach is rooted in inclusive advocacy—not speaking for the Rohingya, but creating the space where they can speak for themselves. We facilitate opportunities for Rohingya survivors, youth, educators, and leaders to participate in international forums, share their experiences, and propose their own solutions. When the world hears directly from Rohingya voices, the urgency becomes undeniable.

We also challenge harmful narratives and misconceptions. Too often, the Rohingya are portrayed solely as victims or a burden to host countries. Our advocacy reframes the conversation—showing the Rohingya as resilient, resourceful, and capable of contributing to society when given the opportunity. We highlight their aspirations for education, justice, dignity, and self-determination. We remind the world that their statelessness is not an accident but a deliberate act of erasure by a system built on exclusion.

A critical component of our work is advocating for sustainable and rights-based solutions to the Rohingya crisis. This includes:

• Justice and Accountability: We call for the prosecution of those responsible for crimes against humanity and genocide in Myanmar. We support ongoing efforts at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and other national or hybrid justice mechanisms. Our documentation and survivor testimonies are part of this global legal pursuit.
• Restoration of Citizenship: We advocate for the Rohingya’s right to nationality in Myanmar, without discrimination or unjust preconditions. The 1982 Citizenship Law, which effectively rendered the Rohingya stateless, must be repealed or amended in line with international human rights norms.
• Safe, Voluntary, and Dignified Repatriation: We support the right of Rohingya refugees to return to their homes in Myanmar, but only when conditions allow for their safety, freedom, and dignity. Until then, we demand protection and support for their rights wherever they are.
• Humanitarian Protection and Inclusion: We urge host countries and aid organizations to treat Rohingya refugees not just as beneficiaries, but as partners. Refugees should have access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, and freedom of movement. These are not privileges—they are rights.
• Protection of Women and Girls: Rohingya women and girls face compounded vulnerabilities due to gender-based violence, limited mobility, and lack of access to reproductive health services. We push for the inclusion of gender-sensitive policies and programming across all humanitarian and justice initiatives.

Our advocacy also involves regular reporting and briefings. We produce concise situation updates and detailed thematic reports that are distributed to international agencies, embassies, donor governments, and human rights councils. These publications are based on rigorous research and fieldwork, highlighting emerging issues, policy gaps, and urgent needs. Whether it’s education restrictions in the camps, arrests of community leaders, or crackdowns in Rakhine State, we ensure that decision-makers are informed and accountable.

One of the most powerful aspects of our engagement is that it builds bridges between the local and global—between camp residents and diplomats, between survivors and policymakers, between community leaders and justice institutions. These bridges are essential to creating long-term change. No solution imposed from above will work unless it is informed by the realities and voices of those most affected.

As we continue this vital work, we are also investing in capacity-building and leadership development among the Rohingya. We believe in empowering new advocates, especially youth and women, to carry the movement forward. Through training sessions, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we help equip the next generation of Rohingya leaders to engage with global systems and claim their rightful place at the table.

We know that justice is not quick. It takes time, persistence, and pressure. But we also know that global solidarity has the power to shift policies, rewrite narratives, and bring accountability where there has long been impunity. That is why we will not stop. We will continue to engage, to speak, to document, and to demand.

Our message to the world is simple, yet profound: The Rohingya deserve more than survival—they deserve justice, dignity, and the full enjoyment of their human rights. And we will keep working—tirelessly, globally, and collaboratively—until that becomes a reality.
